The Listener Commons is a 501(c)3 Nonprofit.
Our mission is to support the creation and performance of new works of art and music while cultivating local communities.
■ Our fund will curate and host a series of live performance events captured for a YouTube and podcast series, where chamber orchestra, narrative storytelling, and immersive improvisational theatre blend seamlessly. Each event is areal-time fusion of sound, story, and art before a live audience.
■ Building on the popularity and success of the Audio Fiction podcasts and YouTube series, our events will blend live music, impromptu theatre, and community-driven art to push the boundaries of traditional storytelling. Each performance will be recorded and distributed on all digital audio, video and podcast platforms. This will allow audiences worldwide to enjoy and help cultivate the community.
■ In each show, three artists (a story teller, a composer and a cinematographer) will be rewarded a commission along with professional video and audio recordings of the event. Artists are encouraged to incorporate elements of their previous works to inspire the creation of a new, original piece. This will allow each artist to focus more on the event and collaboration with the other artists.
■ These collaborations craft unique, genre-defying performances that captivate audiences in an era of digital distractions. By fostering a vibrant community of innovators, we cultivate new works of art that forge lasting connections between creators and audiences
Key Objectives
How The Community Benefits
Many talented artists struggle to find the funding, collaborative opportunities, and platforms to showcase their work on a larger scale. Additionally, they may lack access to professional recordings, performance spaces, and established audiences to help build their portfolios and gain recognition.
By providing funding, a venue, a chamber orchestra, media content, marketing, and opportunities to collaborate with others, The Listener Commons addresses these challenges, helping emerging artists to overcome barriers to entry, develop their craft, and connect with supportive audiences.
Commissions and Stipends
Commissions will be awarded to the three featured artists per each event. Our board will select from candidates who submit their work examples and complete the application process by joining our online community. This will ensure our digital community will grow even before the first event.
Additionally, we will be giving cash stipends to a local chamber orchestra, a video production team, and other event production personnel to facilitate the event.
Mentorships/Internships
We will be offering mentorship and internship opportunities to young aspiring artists who are eager to deepen their knowledge of their craft and become involved in the community we're building. Our goal is to cultivate a strong enough network to eventually host workshops in schools, expanding our reach and impact. As our program grows, we aspire to offer seminars on music composition and production in local schools, providing students with valuable creative and educational opportunities.
What Is Audio Fiction?
Audio Fiction is a podcast format that brings new works of prose to life through a blend of narration, acting, and live music. This immersive storytelling experience has seen significant growth in recent years. As of 2025, there are approximately 4.3 million podcasts worldwide, with Audio Fiction podcasts making up a substantial share of this expanding landscape. We plan to release the recordings of these shows as an Audio Fiction podcast, YouTube Series, etc., which will add to our potential audience reach and revenue.
