Creating new work.

Supporting Artists.

Building Community.

The Listener Commons is a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit.

Our mission is to support the creation and performance of new works of art and music while cultivating local communities.

The Listener Commons will curate and host a series of live performance events captured for a YouTube and podcast series, where chamber orchestra, narrative story-telling, and immersive improvisational theatre blend seamlessly. Each event is a real-time fusion of sound, story, and art before a live audience and recorded for video and podcast platforms.

In each show, three to four artists (a story-teller, a composer, a singer-songwriter and a cinematographer) will receive a commission along with professional video and audio recordings of the event.

These collaborations will craft unique, genre-defying performances that captivate audiences in an era of digital distractions. By fostering a vibrant community of innovators, we hope to cultivate new works of art that forge lasting connections between creators and audiences.

Artist Community

Artist Community

Many talented artists struggle to find the funding, collaborative opportunities, and platforms to showcase their work on a larger scale. By providing funding, a venue, a chamber orchestra, media content, marketing, and opportunities to collaborate with others, The Listener Commons addresses these challenges, helping emerging artists to overcome barriers to entry, develop their craft, and connect with supportive audiences.

Commissions

Commissions & Stipend

Commissions will be awarded to the three or four featured artists for each event. Our board will select from candidates who submit their work examples and complete the application process by joining our online community. This will ensure our digital community will grow even before the first event.

Additionally, we will be giving stipends to a local chamber orchestra, a video production team, and other event production personnel to facilitate the event.

Mentorship

Mentorships

We will be offering mentorship and internship opportunities to young aspiring artists who are eager to deepen their knowledge of their craft and become involved in the community we're building. Our goal is to cultivate a network strong enough to host workshops in schools, expanding our reach and impact. As our program grows, we aspire to offer seminars on music composition and production in local schools, providing students with valuable creative and educational opportunities.
